I must apologize as I have taken off from writing my blog for over 3 months now. I have been really trying to focus on finishing my new book, A Woman’s Guide to Worth. It is an indepth study guide to my book, A Rag Doll’s Heart. I am very excited about this as I hope it will bring healing to broken hearts so women will no longer live from their point of emotional pain, but instead live in peace and victory in Christ. It is in the editing phase right now, but I will be announcing its release soon!

I wrote a part of this piece when the church shooting happened in Texas a couple months ago. And now we have had another school shooting…and the question of why such an immensity of hate is in this world rose in my heart again. I wondered as perhaps you might too, where has all the beauty gone?

God created beauty… whole and unbroken beauty. You are the most beautiful thing he created, for you are made in his image, you are the likeness of God himself. You contain God’s beauty in you and upon you.

We are immersed in the splendor of God every moment of our day; whether it’s in a child’s sweet giggle, an unforeseen hug, or the lavender twilight sky. He intricately designed the wonders of this world to delight and sustain us.

However, evil has waged war against beauty tragically since the beginning of man’s time. Hate quickly assaulted God’s purpose of love and from there the battle ensued.

Beauty still does exist and its presence is not difficult to encounter. But some days love is shrouded so heavily with hate, that beauty’s death is most assured. With the onslaught of hate, beauty fades for those who become so weary.

I urge you not to grow weary, but still believe in beauty even if you have endured betrayal; for God is the keeper of beauty and longs for it to heal. When your thoughts ponder of injustice and cries of why prevail, remember the heart of the One who pursued you and offered a design of peace, instead.

I know we may not understand the atrocities that occur and the pain that is so prevalent. We come to realize early, that we are in a battle and that we must learn to live within the fusion of good and evil. We fret and wonder why such vile things ensue. Why all the brutal attacks of the heart? Why such devastation?

God has never controlled anyone… that was never his intention. He wants people to love out of their own will, not forced; but eager. This was rejected as we can see from the brokenness in our own lives and through the wickedness that dominates the world.

Why doesn’t God do something? Why doesn’t he try to stop it?

As I thought about this, I then realized, he already has. He was grieved at the sight of humanities sin and corruption. He was worn out watching evil overtake the world that he had made with such beauty.

He sent love in the form of his Son to show how much he cared. He wanted to save us from cruelty and have humanity turn away from evil, so he gave from the depth of his heart. He gave the most valuable gift he could give….his son. For those who embrace this ultimate beauty, peace does encompass, however, hope is what expands and encourages us to continue, to care, to engage, to offer mercy…  because we have inside of us the image of God…his beauty and his love; so let’s not only embrace it but lavish it on others….generously, profusely and continuously.
